Exercise Tip of the Month Video

Golf season is upon us and time to start getting ready to swing those clubs. Before you hit the driving range for the first time, make sure your back and shoulders have the mobility they need to make your swing successful and avoid early season injuries. Thoracic spine mobility, particularly rotation, is essential to a fluid and consistent golf swing. An improved ability to rotate through the thoracic spine allows for an increase in your swing range, thus an increase in power through the golf ball, as well as a decrease in the potential for shoulder injuries to occur. Follow the link to a few basic range of motion and core stability exercises in addition to a quick warm-up prior to hitting the golf ball. Good luck this golf season and if you’re looking for a more comprehensive strengthening and flexibility program to get you started this spring please call the either Pender location (604) 606-1420 or the YWCA location (604) 895-5815 for a pre-season tune up.
